The competition between towboat manufacturer's is healthy. We need the benefits of technological advances across all disciplines not to mention the money they donate to the sport. The main reason I got involved with the Ski-Pro Promo Program at the end of 2001 was because of the FlightCraft going away. I loved the FlightCraft and didn't want to end up with just the Sanger or another inboard for a boat choice. The Ski-Pro was the only other boat that had the speed and wake quality that I was looking for. Not mention that I owned a 1993 Ski-Pro and this would finally make me feel at home at the tournaments for the first time in 7 years. I think that variety is important. If our tournaments and towboat sponsorship went to the highest bidder then we wouldn't have variety. Having no boat tests or standards could possibly lead to a total lack of manufacturer support altogether. At least with the ABC tests a manufacturer knows that he is being supported by the ABC and USA WaterSki. With our numbers as low as they are we need all of the help we can get. The worlds this year used 1993' model FlightCrafts. You wouldn't see a 10 year old towboat being used for any World Class Wakeboard or 3-Event Tournament. This was a total embarassment. Why did this happen? MOney!!! Why should a manufacturer spend upwards of 100,000 to send two boats overseas to pull the Barefoot without having something to show for it. Food for thought.
