Adidas launch 2011 adipower predator boots ahead of new football season

Superstars like Kaka and Robin van Persie will sport the new footwear during the 2011-12 campaign, which is the latest in the iconic series launched by the sports brand

As the 2011-2012 campaign approaches, adidas have released their new adipower Predator boots which will be worn by some of the world’s top players this coming season.

The likes of Xavi, Kaka, Nani, Steven Gerrard and Robin van Persie all took part in the testing in the development of the boots as they are now rolled out for general sale.

The latest version of the iconic Predator series aims to cope with the demands of modern football, incorporating unique technologies that combine elements to enhance control, speed and power.

The adipower Predator achieves this through its trio of key features: “The Predator element”, the “Sprint Frame” and the “Powerspine” of the boots.

The Predator element, which features on the medial side of the boot, has been re-engineered to maximise ball control abilities. The injected silicon rubber increases spin when striking the ball to ensure perfect ball control in all weather conditions.

The boot also integrates the revolutionary Sprint Frame outsole construction which adidas previously used in their adizero f50 range. This innovation reduces the weight of the boot by 25 per cent compared to the previous version of the series and helps to create stability through geometry.

As with past Predator editions, the new adipower Predator features Powerspine technology which minimises the energy loss during a shot through a reduction of the “kicking flex” in the forefoot area. The grooves of the Powerspine also provide a comfortable running movement by keeping the element highly flexible in the right direction.

Aubrey Dolan, product manager for the adipower Predator, said: “There is a new kind of player that requires a new kind of Predator boot.

“These players are young, confident and have the skill and ability to shape games as they please.

“With the all-new adipower Predator featuring technologies like Sprint Frame, Powerspine and a refined Predator element, the game is theirs to own.”

Additional key benefits of the boot include an Alcantara leather-like soft and comfortable heel lining, Taurus leather for optimum fit, comfort and touch, Traxion outsole configuration for optimum grip and stud pressure distribution and a new hybrid stud configuration – a mix of exchangeable round aluminium studs and moulded TPU firm ground studs.

The new adipower Predator football boot will be available at adidas’ own retail outlets as well as specialist stores in the UK from July 2011 in Sharp Blue, Electricity and black at a RRP of £155.
